Lowender 2026, You Didn't Disappoint!

Splann Ceilidh Band performing at Lowender Festival 2026 in Redruth

After a year off to reorganise and restructure, Lowender Festival was back with a bang!

It combined some big-name concerts featuring Tim Edey and Michael McGoldrick, and Neear Nesañ, with the charm of music sessions and ceilidh dancing at the community centre. And that's exactly what it felt like, a community based folk festival showcasing and promoting Cornish folk music and dance, while giving enthusiasts plenty of opportunities to get involved.

The Buttermarket and Rose Cottage were a real bonus to the festival this year. Not only were they ideal venues for performances, but they also offered a fantastic selection of food to cater for everyone. It's great to see Redruth continuing its revival as a place to eat out. And let's not forget Bray & Kays pasties!

We were fortunate enough to play a lively ceilidh in the Saturday evening slot, which always seems to bring just the right amount of mischievousness for a festival ceilidh!

We performed a mostly Cornish set, with a few inter-Celtic tunes and dances thrown in for good measure. It was one of the sparkliest ceilidhs we've ever played at, perfectly in keeping with the festival's theme for the evening, ‘Colour me Lowender’.

The magic of the festival continued well into the night, with sessions in full flow and an impromptu session of unplugged music and dancing.

Lowender 2026, we salute you!
